Considering the economic turbulence the country has experienced this past decade, our area is fortunate to have four television network affiliates from which to receive local news and programming. The NBC and CBS affils from my hometown have recently consolidated and broadcast out of one building, with minimal staffing for the entire operation.
While you may have your favorite news, weather, or sports person, imagine not being able to choose which local station you watch. This area is should be grateful that, despite cuts across the board, all four affiliates seem strong and moving forward.
